The Story of Spike II

Last Updated: January 01, 2024

Spike II was found by a Good Samaritan in the middle of a busy intersection, almost getting hit by a car. She grabbed him up and took him home and posted him as found and contacted rescue because she couldn't keep him - she had a dog aggressive dog.
He had a microchip, with a wrong number – however, with a little effort, the owner was tracked down. Due to circumstances in their life, while they wanted him, they could not take him back and he was formally admitted into rescue.
He was very skinny and had had diarrhea the whole time he was in rescue. Once he was part of the rescue, Spike II had blood work, fecal testing, a heartworm test, and a Cushing’s test. He also had his flea/tick prevention, heartworm prevention, microchipping, routine dental care, spay/neuter, and vaccinations. It turned out he is just a dog with a very nervous stomach and allergies. Eating a chicken/rice diet has made him much better and he has gained some much-needed weight.
