The Story of Mochi

Last Updated: September 25, 2023

Corgi rescue was contacted regarding a stray dog at a shelter. She appeared to be either a Corgi mix, or a very large Corgi. She was heartworm positive and had masses on her abdomen.
Mochi was examined, received vaccines, had a fecal test, snap 4 Dx, treated for fleas, prescribed doxycycline in anticipation of heartworm treatment, treated for enteral worms, treated for heartworm microfilaria, had x-rays to rule out metastatic cancer, was microchipped, and had needle aspirates of mammary masses.
When Mochi was in for her spaying, she was found to have a severe case of pyometra. Due to the long surgery, the vet didn't feel it was safe to remove all the mammary masses and perform a dental cleaning. After time to recover somewhat from the first surgery, she had the second to remove the remaining masses and dental work. Mochi is now undergoing her heartworm treatment.
