Abner: Granted March 09, 2012

The Story of Abner

Last Updated: March 09, 2012

Rescuer: Jessica Logan at

Here is Abner's story, in the words of his rescuer:
"Handsome Abner was pulled from a crowded shelter where his days were very limited, especially since he had cherry eyes and was thought to have mange. When we were notified of his urgent situation we stepped up to rescue this sweet fella. Abner was then neutered and had his cherry eyes repaired at that time. We are happy to report that he is heart worm negative, a huge relief and a bit of a surprise since Abner was an unclaimed stray from the streets, underweight and suffering from skin issues.
"Those sad times are now behind this cutie pie as Abner is now up-to-date on vaccinations and is getting some meat on those bones and his skin issues have resolved. Abner is on monthly heart worm preventative and flea and tick preventatives. Abner's skin issues resolved with a good soothing, medicated bath, Comfortis to stop and prevent those horrible fleas and Benadryl twice daily to relieve his severe itching/scratching caused by the flea dermatitis. He no longer requires Benadryl.
"Abner is learning manners and is happy and bouncy and loves to play with his foster sister, Rachel, who is very excited to have a 3 year old pooch who appreciates and shares her zest for life! Abner would love a home without small children (they make him nervous as is commonly the case with many dogs). He is doing very well with house training, loves to eat and does the happy dance with each meal :-) Abner currently weighs 29 pounds but needs to pack on a few more pounds to have him at a healthy weight. A fenced yard is required for Abner's safety and enjoyment of the great outdoors."
CorgiAid supporters will help with the cost of helping Abner get healthy in his own skin, so he can go forward and lead the happy life he deserves. Thank you!
Abner was rescued in Arkansas.
