The Story of Sadie

Last Updated: January 27, 2012

Rescuer: B. Diane Myers at

Here is Sadie's story, in the words of her rescuer:
"Sadie's owner had gone way over the 3 pet limit in her town. She had 5 cats and 3 dogs, two of which were corgis. Animal control gave her a week to find homes for 5 of the pets, it didn't matter which ones. She put them all on Craigslist, free to good home, and let the public decide which animals would go. By the time she called me, she was one day from her deadline. The other corgi, the poodle and 2 cats had been rehomed (all had been neutered, thankfully). But nobody wanted poor Sadie, because she's 8 years old. I knew Sadie would end up in the shelter (who would call me anyway), so I agreed to take her if the owner would get her up to date on her vaccinations and have her tested for heartworm, which she did. Sadie is obese. Her frame should be supporting 23 pounds, not 33 pounds. She feels terrible, but I can tell if we can get those pounds off of her, she'll be much more active and happy. She needs to have her teeth cleaned, have a fecal and urinalysis and get microchipped."
CorgiAid supporters will help Sadie get a clean and healthy mouth, and generally get caught up on her health care, so she can live happily with people who appreciate her! Thank you!
Sadie was rescued in Oklahoma.
