The Story of Gabby

Last Updated: December 05, 2011

Here is Gabby's story, in the words of her rescuer:
"I received an email one morning from a man telling me that his girl friend was incapacitated and I MUST RESCUE HER CORGI. 'Six-seven' year old Gabby turned out to be almost 13. She was 40.1 lbs. Her teeth were literally falling out of her mouth, and she was limping so bad on her left front leg that she could barely walk. In addition she was, for lack of a better term, filthy.
"Gabby is down to 33 lbs. She has had her teeth cleaned, and several extracted. She has had blood work. Her shoulder has been x-rayed. She has a bone spur and arthritis. At her age, we are not doing surgery. She is on Adequan injections which I give her, Rimadyl, and Adequan for pain. She is in a permanent foster home. We cannot not get dogs this age and health condition adopted. We started a Permanent Foster Home Program. We call it the Old Timer's Club. :-) Gabby is in a wonderful home and they love her to pieces. Gabby has decided that 12 year old Sophie is her best friend. They sleep together, go on short walks, and do home work together. Gabby probably doesn't have much time left, but she is so happy and so loved at least she will go to the Rainbow Bridge knowing she was loved."
CorgiAid supporters will help with the expense of keeping Gabby as comfortable as possible, as she enjoys her last time here on Earth. Thank you!
Gabby was rescued in Missouri.
