As much as we all wish every rescue story could have a happy ending, reality is that it can't always end well.
Here is Brian's story, in the words of his rescuer:
"The next in our 2011 royalty theme for our male fosters, this is Brian, named after Brian Boru (Ireland's greatest king). Picked up by animal control as stray, he spent the requisite three days there exposed to all kinds of awfulness. His toenails had grown very long and curled back. His mouth was dirty and full of broken teeth. He had, in the words of the vet technician, "the worst UTI we have ever seen." The urine was pink. The infection is so bad and had been going on so long, he whimpered in pain when he urinated. He also had the entire menu of intestinal parasites and some superficial injuries of unknown injuries. After spending several days at the vet's office to get healthy enough for neuter and dental, Brian began to struggle to breathe. X-rays revealed congestive heart failure and enlarged liver. We made the painful decision to send dear Brian to the bridge."
CorgiAid supporters helped Brian with the care he received, and when it became clear that the kindest thing that could be done for Brian was to help him not struggle any longer, you helped him with that, too. Thank you.
Brian was rescued in Oklahoma.
