Jovie: Granted April 08, 2005

The Story of Jovie

Last Updated: April 08, 2005

Rescuer: Elizabeth Dukesherer-Faery Tails Corgi R at

Jovie was picked up as a stray by a rural animal control facility. Her owners were known to the AC officers - but they never came to claim their dog. She had at least 1 litter of puppies within the last 6 months that the AC officers could recall.
Jovie had open draining sores to the back 1/3 of her body, bleeding and infected from her reaction to a severe flea infestation. She was shaved and the sores were cleaned and disinfected, and she was started on oral antibiotics and topical antibiotic spray and a prednisone injection to stop the intense itching. Her mouth was examined and found to be severely irritated; gums red and inflamed with several broken and cracked and infected teeth with large amounts of tartar accumulated that will need to be removed. She also presented with an ear infection that needed treatment.
Jovie is already responding nicely to treatment for her infected skin from her reaction to severe flea infestation. Her open sores have healed and she has healthy pink skin and new hair growing in again from where she had to be shaved to treat her sore and infected skin.
Jovie is a very sweet girl. She has been ok at the vet, ok being medicated and treated, ok around food, ok with being picked up and bathed & having nails trimmed, and ok around other dogs and cats and people.
CorgiAid supporters will help Jovie get comfortable in her own skin so she can look for her forever home. Thank you!
