The Story of Phoebe

Last Updated: September 25, 2014

Rescuer: B. Diane Myers at ccrescue@dogsweetdog.com

As much as we wish all rescue stories could have a happy ending, reality is not that kind.

Tissue alert.

Here is Phoebe's story, in the words of her rescuer:
"Phoebe came in with Rachel to the shelter. Brought in by a man who claimed to have found them, but the shelter staff was sure they belonged to him. Phoebe's eyes have the cloudiness of age, but she appears to have a least a little vision left. She has very raspy breathing which could indicate advanced Heartworm or an Upper Respiratory problem. We need her fully assessed to see if her issues can be fixed so she can go on and lead a good life.
"Update: Unfortunately Phoebe was just too sick. Her heartworm was so advanced she was in heart failure. After a long consultation with the vet and tuning into Phoebe, we realized the only thing we could do was to send her to the Bridge with Rachel. They went peacefully together, at exactly the same time, on my lap. Rest in Peace Sweet Phoebe."
It is hard enough to read this sort of story. Imagine having to write it.
CorgiAid supporters have helped with Phoebe's early care, diagnosis, and final expenses. Thank you.
