Marianne was raised in Richmond, Texas and attended Lamar High School. She graduated from Sam Houston State University with a degree in Elementary Education.
She first fell in love with New Mexico while living and teaching there in 1974 and moved to Santa Fe permanently in 1985 where she and her husband Ken Hastey built a successful plumbing company and raised one daughter, Rheanna.
Marianne loved being outdoors on horseback and on snowmobiles. In recent years she followed her passion for animal welfare and was a devoted rescuer of dogs, especially Pembroke Welsh Corgis. She ran her own rescue, Northern New Mexico Corgi Rescue for several years. She will be greatly missed by many.
